Dr. Domanico pioneered high throughput screening robotics systems at GlaxoWellcome for target, genetic and genomic screening.
BenchTop Systems
Dr. Domanico’s department developed BenchTop robotics systems to automate most laboratory screening methods. These systems have become an industry standard.
RoboFit
Dr. Domanico independently created RoboFit, a software platform that automates every aspect of managing and analyzing high and medium throughput screening data. RoboFit is one of the most successful software packages ever built at GlaxoWellcome and has supported over 2000 FTE years of high throughput screening. Various modules within RoboFit have been commercialized by several vendors.
RoboAssay
Dr. Domanico pioneered the use of statistics-based experimental design to optimize target and genetic assays, and to develop new screening technology platforms. RoboAssay improved the quality and stability of assays by two to fifty-fold, and reduced the cost-per-well of assays by two to ten-fold. This platform was commercialized with two partners and is now widely used throughout the industry.
GWSuperComputer
Dr. Domanico’s department developed the first distributed computing infrastructure and analysis tools for the pharmaceutical industry. GWSuperComputer solved complex chemistry and biology computational problems. GWSuperComputer made the impossible, routine.
